The first week was full of back to school activities. There were lots of getting to know each other activities, but also a little bit of learning too. We shared a lot about ourselves and even began our Shoebox Autobiographies. The students in the class shared pictures, artifacts and even money (from around the world). In Language Arts, we discussed picking appropriate books and what it means to be a reader. In Math, we began by surveying our classmates to learn about how many people in their household, how long it takes them to shower, and how long their foot is in inches. We used that data to create line plots and stem and leaf plots. Next week, we will begin the writing process in Language Arts and review multiplying and dividing with fractions.
